Helal Linux team is pleased to announce the availability of Helal Linux 4; the best version we ever made until now, based on Ubuntu 13.04.

Helal Linux 4 has many special programs like:

• Helal Control Center: a special application for Helal Linux to customize the system preferences easily.
• Helal Software Center: based on mintinstall, with porting some pages to webkit, fix some issues, and some other improvements.
• Helal URL Shortener: a small GUI program to shorten web URLs from the desktop easily.
• Helal Recorder: a desktop recorder for Helal Linux.
• Helal WYSIWYG Editor: a HTML editor using webkit and pygtk.
• Helal Welcome: a small script to welcome new users.
• Helal Linux Repository: now Helal Linux users can get Helal programs updates among other free software automatically from the repository.

The announce of Helal Ads System

Hello.

as you all know (maybe you don't) we are going to use an Ads system in Helal Linux.

this ads system will show up a notification every 30min, it will contain the ads we want, right now this ads system only supports Arabic and English ads.

here is a screenshot:


note that the user can disable the ads system easily by choosing this from Helal Control Center.

anyway, if you want to put your ads there, read this:

• Your ads must be useful for Gnu/Linux users, do NOT request to put your ads there if you are talking about closed-source games, Magazines, Fashion.. , your ads must be USEFUL for Gnu/Linux users, we may allow putting some ads related to Technology.
• Then, send us your request to hannysabbagh[at]hotmail.com and we will communicate about PRICE [it is not free!] and time.

Helal Recorder is now available for download

Hello.

Helal Recorder is a small GUI recorder for Helal Linux, it can record your desktop in many formats with video , video and audio, or only audio if you wanted, with a small nice GUI, it also supports recording on Gnome-shell, Cinnamon, Xfce4 ,Unity, Gnome Classic without any errors.

you can download it from Helal repository or from this link:

Helal Linux 4.0 repository is released..

Hello.

Helal Linux 4.0 repository is released, this repository is only available for 32 bit, it supports Ubuntu 13.04/12.10/12.04 , first add this line to your software sources:

deb https://sourceforge.net/projects/helal/files/repository/ The_Old_Moon main

and then run the following commands:

sudo su

wget -q https://sourceforge.net/projects/helal/files/repository/key/deb.gpg.key -O- |  apt-key add -

sudo apt-get update

open your Synaptic, and install the packages ! :)

We are pleased to tell you that we are working on the final version of Helal Linux 4.0, it will be based on Ubuntu 13.04, we will provide many different images with different GUIs.

Helal Linux 1.0 Light is here!

we are pleased to announce the availability of the first 'Helal Linux Light' version which is a Helal Linux distro based on lubuntu 12.04 featuring Helal Linux style and tools but for old computers and notebooks, and in Helal Linux Light there are many features like:

• based on Lubuntu 12.04 with LXDE and linux kernel 3.2.
• Helal Software Center,Light Helal Control Center which is a small copy from Helal Control Center that was used in Helal 3.0 Final.
• Support for Arabic language and adding extra fonts.
• Some Islamic apps have been added like Othman,Hijra.
• flash player and some extra codecs for multimedia and gnome-mplayer.
• many customizations in GUI and some other system apps.
• LXDM now is the default display manager for the system.
• the system's .iso is less then 700 MB whick make it easy to put it on CD.
• many cool applications have been added, like: firefox 13, gimp 2.6,lxdm,linux kernel 3.2,pcmanfm 0.9.10,pidgin,filezilla,xchat,transmisson ,uget,Geany,Gnu paint , Gnome Paint,xfburn,mplayer,Arandr,Gdebi,Synaptic,wicd,Gp arted .Grub Customizer,hijra,othman,gnome-screenshot,FLTK games,lxlauncher,remastersys.

when booting the livecd, he will ask you for a user-name and password, username is: helal , and there is no password (just hit enter)...

Helal Linux 3.0 is Here!

Today,  after 7 months of continuous work,helal linux team is pleased to announce the launch of Helal Linux 3.0 final, which comes with numerous features :

• Gnome 3.4 , gnome shell 3.4 gnome classic 3.4
• Helal control center with many features like some fixes here and there, it is now available in both English and Arabic, new Options like Customizing 'Cinnamon',cleaning some things that were not working before.
• Helal Software Center which is based on LSC,it has splash image, and it is Translated to Arabic (there is many languages).
•  gnome shell is fully Customized with a brand new great look.
• flash,codecs java,arabic fonts,gnome-tweak tool, ubuntu tweak, boot repair, grub Customizer and many tools to Customize the system easily.
• Chmviewkit to view Chm files.
